A
substantial number of people believe that all PEDs are dangerous, and should be
banned from sports. However, contrary to this notion, some others suggest that
the most important what is needed for sport player is to define drugs. In other
words, it doesn’t make sense regulating all chemical materials. Mounk (2016)
states, “The use of artificial painkillers is widespread among athletes, but
because we all take an aspirin from time to time, we’re not afraid that its use
violates the Olympic spirit” (para4). However, this doesn’t mean that using
chemicals is always safe like taking aspirin. Still there is potential dangers,
and people who oppose taking drugs contend that taking drugs ruins everyone.
Namely, using drugs increases a chance of injury. Goodman (2012) states, “Bigger,
faster, stronger contributes to injures, shorter careers and debilitating retirement”
(para8).
This issue is still controversial,
and been debating by many people. Any aspect can’t be said perfectly right.
However, the surest thing is that sport players should protect themselves from
injury. Therefore, taking drugs that have high possibility to ruin taker should
be regulated. It is sole way to continue Olympic spirit.
